Quilted red heart hanging on a cord
Made2016, 2018

Stitched Christmas ornaments

Red hearts, stars and balls in cotton canvas, quilted with a decorative stitch on the sewing machine and stuffed. I made them in 2016 together with pillows in the same colours; two years later came hearts and birds in navy.

Why I made it

The hearts and birds were meant to follow on from the Christmas pillows and grow them into a small collection in the same folk spirit, so they carry the same decorative stitch. At the same time I made a gift set: a pillow with ornaments in different shapes. Those I embroidered differently, with a star pattern in plain straight stitch.
